EKU GOLF TEAMS PLAY ROAD TOURNEYS DURING SPRING BREAK WEEK

RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's golf teams will participate in tournaments during Spring Break week as coach Joni Stephens' EKU women's team will compete at the Elon College Invitational, Mar. 13-14, and coach Pat Stephens' Colonel men's golfers will play in the East Carolina University Pepsi Intercollegiate, Mar. 19-20, in Greenville, NC.

The Eastern women's team finished ninth of 15 teams in the Fripp Island Intercollegiate in Fripp Island, SC, in its first action of the spring last weekend. Leading the way for EKU was junior Michelle Biro who tied for 23rd with a score of 244.

Other Eastern players and their scores were sophomore Colleen Yaeger, 251; junior Krissie Kirby, 256; senior Julie Bourne, 258; freshman Kelli Wilson, 271; and sophomore Samantha Moses, 276.

Eastern's men's team also opened play at Fripp Island, placing 12th out of 16 teams. Junior Eric Willenbrink led the Colonels with a ninth place score of 218. Junior Brandon Tucker was next for Eastern, finishing in 36th place with a score of 227.

"Our guys are still awfully rusty, but they got some good experience on a good golf course," said coach Pat Stephens.

Rounding out Eastern players and their scores were sophomore James Milam, 231; senior Mason Guy, 237; senior Andrew Games, 238; and junior Josh Lee, 239.
