OVC TOURNEY NEXT FOR EKU WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM
RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team will compete in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Murray State University's Miller Golf Course April 16-18 to decide the OVC champion for 1999.
EKU has had some strong team finishes this spring leading up to the OVC championship tourney, including a fourth place finish last time out in the Lady Colonel Invitational.
"The Murray State course is pretty challenging, but we played it pretty well in the fall. I believe we have a good chance to win the OVC," said EKU women's golf coach Joni Stephens.
The Lady Colonels finished second last year in the OVC Tournament held at EKU.
Junior Michelle Biro, sophomore Colleen Yaeger and junior Krissie Kirby are among the top golfers in the conference. Biro leads OVC golfers with her 80.3 average, while Yaeger is seventh at 83.1 and Kirby ranks 12th with her spring average of 85.7.
