WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM FINISHES SECOND AT WESTERN CAROLINA,
HOSTS EKU FALL INVITATIONAL OCT. 16-17

RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team will host the EKU Fall Invitational Oct. 16-17 at the Arlington Golf Course. EKU finished second in a rain-shortened Lady Catamount Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC, earlier this week.

Eastern was tied for the lead with eventual winner Rollins College after the first round with a team score of 316. Only nine holes were played in the final round and EKU lost five shots to Rollins to finish in the runnerup spot in the 14-team field.

"We were extremely pleased with our performance and almost had that first-place finish," said first-year head coach Joni Stephens.

Senior Julie Bourne led Eastern with her third place finish for the 27 holes with a 114. Other Eastern entries were Michelle Biro and Jackie Biro who each shot 119's, Krissie Kirby with a 124 and Colleen Yaeger with a 125.
