EKU WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM NATIONALLY RANKED IN TWO CATEGORIES

RICHMOND, Ky. - Coach Joni Stephens' Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team is nationally ranked in two categories as noted in statistics released in Golfstat's Statistical Rankings Report , published Oct. 18.

EKU, as a team, leads the nation in percentage of fairways hit with its .871 mark. The University of Georgia is second at .829 and the University of Arkansas is third in the country at .826. Rounding out the top 10, in order, are UCLA, South Carolina, Duke, North Carolina, San Jose State, Auburn and UAB.

Individually, in the category of percentage of fairways hit, EKU senior Jackie Biro of Kalamazoo, MI, is tied for sixth with Georgia's Shauna Estes with their .905 percentages. Auburn's Celeste Troche leads the way at .968.

Eastern is also ranked second in the nation in greens hit in regulation at a distance of less than 15 feet away.

EKU, who recently tied for fourth, just six shots from champion Northern Iowa, in the EKU Fall Invitational, closes its fall campaign Oct. 25-26 with an appearance in the 36-hole Western Carolina University Great Smokies Collegiate in Waynesville, NC.
