WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM FINISHES IN A TIE FOR FOURTH IN EKU

FALL INVITATIONAL, CLOSES FALL SEASON AT WESTERN CAROLINA

RICHMOND, Ky. - Following a fourth-place tie in the 12-team EKU Fall Invitational, coach Joni Stephens' Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team will close its season Oct. 25-26 in the Western Carolina University Great Smokies Collegiate.

Despite falling a couple of notches in the team standings following Round 1, Stephens was still pleased with her team's performance in the 36-hole EKU Fall Invitational played at the Arlington Golf Course.

"We were very, very consistent the first day with all six of our golfers placing in the Top 20," Stephens said. "We played well the second day also. We just had a couple of shots that didn't go in that would have moved us up, since there were just six strokes between first and fourth place."

Junior Krissie Kirby led EKU as she finished in a tie for fifth place with her two-round total of 158. Senior Jackie Biro tied for 18th with a score of 161, while junior Samantha Moses tied for 25th at 162.

Completing Eastern scores were freshman Leslie Fossitt, 27th at 163; senior Michelle Biro, tied for 31st, at 166; and sophomore Krista Dillman, tied for 42nd at 169.

"We need to maintain that intensity we have had during these first rounds, into the second day, and start bringing home some wins in these tournaments. I think we'll see a big improvement in this when our spring season gets here," Stephens noted.
