EKU FALL INVITATIONAL NEXT FOR EKU WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM

RICHMOND, Ky. - Coach Joni Stephens' Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team will host the 13-team EKU Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Arlington Golf Course. The tourney will consist of two 18-hole rounds which will begin at 9 a.m. both days.

Participating teams include Illinois State, Evansville, Cumberland, Western Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Belmont, Ohio University, Grand Valley State, Bowling Green, Yale, Tennessee Tech, Northern Iowa and EKU.

Like the Eastern Kentucky men's team, EKU competed earlier in the week at the Precept Intercollegiate at the Clarksville (TN) Country Club, hosted by Austin Peay State University. Eastern finished fifth with a two-round total of 681. Tennessee Tech won the eight-team tourney with a score of 629.

"This was a very, very difficult and challenging golf course for our team to play. The greens undulated very much which made the greens lightning fast," Stephens said. "The course was playing very long and that factor, coupled with what was happening on the greens, led to two frustrating days of golf."

Leading Eastern to its fifth place finish was senior Jackie Biro who tied for eighth with her score of 162. Sophomore Krista Dillman and junior Samantha Moses tied for 19th at 174. Senior Michelle Biro tied for 23rd at 175 and sophomore Kelli Wilson was 30th with her final tally of 181.
