LADY COLONEL CLASSIC SET FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

RICHMOND, Ky. - The seventh annual Eastern Kentucky University Lady Colonel Classic Golf Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at the Arlington Golf Course.

The tourney, which was won last season by Arkansas State University, will feature 18 holes of golf Friday and the final 18 holes Saturday. Competing teams include Austin Peay, Belmont, Cumberland, Arkansas State, Butler, Eastern Michigan, Franklin College, Murray State, Oakland, Ohio University, Tennessee Tech, Evansville, Texas - Pan American, Toledo, Western Kentucky, Youngstown State and EKU.

"We haven't played competitively for about 10 days, but I think that's OK. You need a little bit of break every now and then," said EKU women's golf coach Joni Stephens. "Qualifying for this tournament for our team closed Wednesday. Everybody on our team will play in this tournament, either on our regular team or as an individual."

This will be Eastern's fifth tournament of the spring with the Lady Colonels having finished fourth, ninth, fifth and eighth thus far in the previous tournaments. Junior Jackie Biro is leading Eastern and the Ohio Valley Conference with her 77.5 per 18 - holes stroke average.

"We have some tough teams coming in this weekend. We will have to play very well to finish in one of the top spots," Stephens said.

The tourney begins each day with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
