WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM TO PLAY IN FIGHTING CAMEL CLASSIC

RICHMOND, Ky. - Following a fifth place finish among 16 teams entered in the Saluki Invitational earlier this week, coach Joni Stephens' Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team will play Monday and Tuesday (April 3-4) in the Fighting Camel Classic hosted by Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC.

"We will have to play very good golf to place high in this tournament. There will be some excellent teams down there," said Stephens.

Paced by a second place finish from junior Jackie Biro, EKU finished fifth with a two-day score of 649 at the Saluki Invitational, just one stroke away from tieing for fourth place. Biro shot rounds of 72-80 for a 152 score.

Other Eastern golfers and their scores were Kelli Wilson and Colleen Yaeger, each with 166; Michelle Biro, 168; Samantha Moses, 172; and Krista Dillman, 178.

"We were pleased with the way we played. There were some good teams playing in the tournament like Wisconsin and Michigan (who placed 1-2)," said Stephens.
